WEST NORWOOD FIRE STATION IS COMING TO MARKET TO RENT

News at Galloways | 08/04/2016

The West Norwood fire station is a grade II listed building, and was built in 1914 – 1915 but closed in Autumn 2014. We have all been waiting with anticipation, and finally the wait is nearly over. The existing building is approximately 1,000 squared meters and the site covers 0.15 hectares.

The listed building has been developed into 12 brand newly renovated apartments, capturing some fantastic original features, exposed wooden beams, old rusted fire escape ladders, painted red front doors, roof terrace, communal garden area. This mixed with high end quality fitted kitchens, bathrooms and shower rooms makes for a real wow factor.

West Norwood has been on the up now for some time. However in March of 2016 plans were approved for a brand new, 4 screen Picturehouse Cinema and café. Along side this the Library service will be improved within the existing site of Nettlefold Hall. This has now been closed since 2011. The Cinema complex is due to open in 2017.

Lets also not forget the popular West Norwood Leisure Centre which opened in 2014, next to West Norwood train station. If you are new to the area then check out the Feast, a monthly community market on the 1st Sunday of every month. This was established in 2011, completely set up by local business owners and residents. The Feast features Music, food stalls, arts and crafts and community events.

So, “How do I get to work” I hear you ask. Just because we don’t have a tube station doesn’t mean we live in the sticks. West Norwood is only 6.3 miles from Victoria train station, and it takes under 20 minutes on the train direct from West Norwood. Tulse Hill train station is a short walk away, and offers a service direct into Blackfriars. There are also plenty of buses, as we have our own bus garage in West Norwood.

“OK, So, I can get to work, but I want to go out in the evening for a glass of wine, or bite to eat” I hear you say, We have it all here now. West Norwood has a fantastic array of Gastro pubs, coffee shops from around the world, cafes and even its own organic shop.

This is the first phase of the development, another 12 new apartments are currently being built in a second phase to the rear of the site. Keep an eye out on our website for further news www.gallowaysonline.co.uk
